J.Van Voorhees - Adventure Artist Thank you for visiting my web site. My name is Jonathan Van Voorhees and I'm an artist. I've been drawing and painting since I was a small child. My first commission was when I was 16 and a representative from Houston Blacklight Company bought some of my poster art back in the 60's. My first job as an artist was designing and painting billboards for Acme Outdoor Advertising in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1970. I don't have a degree, so I'll have to let my art speak for itself.

I've been involved in the arts in one form or another my entire life. I painted on the streets of New Orleans when I was a teenager, ghost painted for an artist in Shreveport, Louisiana in my twenties, helped with costuming, sets, hair and makeup at community theaters in Shreveport, Little Rock, and Nashville, completed several scripts while serving as Vice President of the Dallas Screenwriters Association, produced dinner theater, and I have written, produced and directed a feature film
(IMDb: Project Clear Vision)

I teach painting classes in my studio in Tyler, Texas; I conduct excursions to interesting and exciting locations where you can paint some of the most beautiful and interesting scenes on earth; I create artful paintings and portraits by commission; and I produce a video series called, you guessed it, ARTS ADVENTURE. Thanks for stopping by and please take a minute to check out the programs I offer to artists of every level, from novice to expert.
